BONNERS FERRY — The Compass Grille has recently opened next to Bonners Ferry Bottom Dollar, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner for those on the go. With some outdoor seating, summer customers can sit down and enjoy their meal at an umbrella-covered table.

It is owned and operated by Lucie Yocom, Melissa Yocom, and Alexis Dodson, all of whom have been a part of the food industry for years.

“We were ready to take our careers in our own hands and provide something new to Bonners Ferry,” said Lucie Yocom. “The food truck was a way for us to make that happen.”

With a strong background in food production, the team built their menu around things they like to eat. Open early for breakfast, they serve everyone from the early-riser working class, to those on their way home from work in the evenings, with a variety of menu options.

“The Philly cheesesteaks are really popular, burgers are always a favorite, but breakfast is quickly gaining in popularity,” said Lucie Yocom.

They serve breakfast sandwiches and other breakfast items, locally-made cookies, sandwiches, burgers, fries, and a variety of other food for people of all tastes, including gluten-free options.

Their future plans are to continue to serve the community food and eventually expand into a larger building to continue their venture.

“Our goals for the future are to expand in Bonners Ferry; our dreams are endless,” said Lucie Yocom. “I guess we will just have to see where they take us. Life’s about the journey.”

As they continue to grow, so does their followers online. Their Facebook page is filled with compliments on the food and friendly service.

“We have been greatly welcomed by this community that we love so much,” said Lucie Yocom. “We are truly humbled by the support we have received.”

From people eating on the go, to bosses treating their employees to a meal, the Compass Grille is an affordable place to dine out.

“Compass Grille is a great addition to our home town,” said local resident Carol Bustillos. “I have frequently bought breakfast for my crew, which they have greatly appreciated. Their food is delicious and filling.”

Bustillos is a part of the team at Randy’s Repair, Construction and Remodeling, where the hard work of the crew is appreciated, and they showed their appreciation by treating the crew to lunch.

“Being able to call in and have it ready when I’m on the go is great,” said Bustillos. “I highly recommend Compass Grille for their amazing menu and prices. Their bacon cheeseburgers and chicken wraps are also great.”

The Grille recently received a facelift as their new menu signs were put up, making it easy for customers to browse the items available. Customers can walk up and order or call in their order for additional convenience.

The Compass Grille’s phone number is 208-946-3327 and they are located in the former Pape Building at 6606 Main St. in Bonners Ferry. They also have a Facebook page under Compass Grille, which showcases menu items, times of operation, and more. They are open Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
