Lillian Ruth (Koehn) Mastre

Lillian Ruth (Koehn) Mastre was born to Henry and Hattie (Wadel) Koehn on Oct. 23, 1936, in Winton, Calif. Mom peacefully passed away at the age of 82 on June 19, 2019, at Sunset Home Assisted Living in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Death was the result of congestive heart failure.

Mom found peace with God when she was 13. She was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite on Feb. 27, 1949, by Minister Harry D. Wenger, and was faithful to her vows unto the end.

Mom’s growing up years were happily spent on the family farm where her father grew peaches and grapes. Mom and her younger brother walked through the grape rows after they were harvested. They dried these and had free raisins.

After graduating from high school, Mom worked at Production Credit, a loan office, until she got married.

On Oct. 23, 1955, Mom married our father, Stanley Mastre, in Winton, Calif. To their home were born five daughters and two sons. Mom took good care of her family, always being there when we arrived home from school, providing many homemade snacks. As we got older we appreciated her interest as we arrived home from youth gatherings. She loved it when her family came home for coffee or meals, always interested in our lives.

Dad and Mom went through a difficult time when they lost their oldest son to cancer.

Our parents enjoyed life together in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, for 62 years. Dad passed away in January of last year, leaving Mom very lonely.

We treasure the testimony of faith Mom lived and left with us.

Those left with precious memories are her children: Karen and Kirk Seaman, Bonners Ferry, Idaho; Candace and Martin Koehn, Buhl, Idaho; Roxanne and James Miller, Dalton, Ohio; Sherri Mastre, Bonners Ferry, Idaho; Lance and Faith Mastre, Bonners Ferry, Idaho; Jen and Maurice Wedel, Galva, Kan.; and Judith and Chad Isaac, Bonners Ferry, Idaho; 31 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, one brother, Orville and Valeda Koehn; four sisters-in-law, Joanne and Ernie Dirks, Lillie Mastre, Marlyn Mastre, and Carol Mastre; four brothers-in-law, Bob and JoAnne Mastre, Bill and Barbara Mastre, Lloyd and Delores Mastre, and Leonard and Ruth Unruh.

Preceding her in death were her husband, one son, one brother, one sister, six sisters-in-law, and seven brothers-in-law.

A special thanks from the family to the staff at Sunset Home and the Hospice Nurses who shared in her care during her last days.
