Letter to the Editor: School Superintendent
SUPERINTENDENT: Meet the four finalists
Hiring a superintendent is one of the most important jobs of a school board. We have been dedicated to doing our utmost to hire the best superintendent; focusing on the student’s needs.
After the position was posted in October, we hired ISBA (Idaho School Board Association) to help with the process; paid for through funding from the state designated for board member training. ISBA assisted us with background checks and guiding us through reference calls. All decisions have been made by the board.
Fifteen impressive applicants were from all over the U.S., including two internal candidates. We narrowed to 10 after reviewing applications; then made reference calls and further narrowed to seven. After phone screening interviews and discussion, the board decided on four individuals who all have the experience, talent, certifications and drive to lead our district.
Jan Bayer, Idaho
Dr. Paul Blanford, Wisconsin
Joshua Patterson, Montana
Dr. Stan Rentz, Georgia
Interviews are March 15. A community meet and greet is March 14, where anyone will have the opportunity to visit candidates and ask questions. We hope you will attend and provide feedback which will be reviewed before we make a decision.
With the results of the last survey, feedback from the meet and greet, a survey sent to district staff, information gained during the process and final interviews we hope to hire the best candidate for our district. Thank you for your time and dedication to help us make this important decision.
