School district chooses new leader
The Boundary County School District Board of Trustees selected Janette Bayer as the next Superintendent to lead the District. Bayer will replace retiring Superintendent Gary Pflueger.
This decision came after a three-month process, facilitated by the Idaho School Boards Association, and included more than 15 applicants spanning across the country as well as in-state.
The Board held multiple meetings throughout the process, which included reviewing candidate applications, conducting reference checks and research, and held interviews. The District also held a meet and greet so members of the staff and community could meet the finalists. After conducting interviews on March 15, the Board read over 250 comment cards as provided by staff and community during the meet and greet and then ultimately decided to offer the position to Bayer.
“We are excited to have Ms. Bayer lead this District. She has vast experience in education serving in multiple capacities during her tenure. She will be a phenomenal asset to our District. The Board spent many hours contemplating candidates and felt that she would be the best person to lead our district into the future. As a district, we have done many good things and we have had our struggles. This is a great opportunity for all of us as individuals and as a district, to become something even greater. Ultimately our children will reap the benefits of this and I’m excited for our district,” said Board Chairman, Ron MacDonald
Bayer is currently the Principal at Kellogg Middle School. Prior to that, she served as the Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment, Professional Development, and Federal Programs Director for the Kellogg School District and Wallace School District.
In her career, she has also served as an Adjunct Professor; Educational Consultant; Director of Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment, Professional Development, and Title II-A; Special Education; and a high school teacher. Bayer has two Bachelor’s degrees, one in Secondary Education and one in Special Education, a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, and an Education Specialist certificate. She is a graduate of Bonners Ferry High School.
