BONNERS FERRY — After a rash of burglaries that occurred just south of the city limits during the overnight hours of Feb. 22, the Boundary County Sheriff’s Office and the Bonners Ferry Police Department worked together and launched an investigation.

According to a press release from the Boundary County Sheriff’s Office, on Feb. 27, detectives identified 32-year old Dustin R. Langford as a suspect in the burglaries. A traffic stop was conducted while Langford was under surveillance and he was arrested for driving on a suspended license, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. During the booking process at the jail, he was also charged with knowingly bringing drugs into the jail.

Search warrants were then obtained for Langford’s vehicle and a residence that was associated with him. According to the press release, during the execution of the search warrants, detectives recovered items of stolen property, as well as a rifle that had been in Langford’s control. Langford is a convicted felon and was on parole at the time.

“I am thankful to the efforts of our Deputies, Detectives and City Police Officers that worked closely together to bring some justice for the victims and hold Langford accountable to stand trial for his actions,” said Boundary County Sheriff Dave Kramer. “When someone steals from your home or vehicles, it is understandable how victims feel violated, and we will strive to hold those accountable for their actions. It is especially frustrating for all when we have to deal with repeat offenders that have failed to learn from prior crimes.”

On March 22, Langford was charged with seven counts of burglary and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm. He remains in custody at the Boundary County Jail with a $70,000 bond. His preliminary hearing is set for April 5 at 1:30 p.m.
