BONNERS FERRY — The Badgers played against Priest River on April 26, falling 14-3 and 25-8 in an Intermountain League doubleheader.

In the opener, starting pitcher Paisley Schulte gave up 5 walks and 3 hits. In the bottom of the first, Kelsey English started things off getting on base from a third baseman error. English later scored on an RBI single from Sydney Watt.

The first inning ended with Priest River leading 5-1. Watt came in to pitch the remainder of the game, striking out two, walking eight, and giving up four hits.

English scored again in the third inning after popping a single to center and scoring on a past ball.

Hanna Beazer got things going in the fourth inning with a hard grounder to get on base, advancing with a base hit from English. Beazer later scored on a passed ball as well. The first game ended with a score of 14-3 in 7 innings played.

“The girls played cleanly with only one error,” said Coach Chelsea Taggart. “We just couldn’t seem to get our bats going.”

The second game started with Sydney Watt pitching the first three innings, striking out one, walking six and giving up six hits.

Kelsey English pitched the final two innings with two strikeouts, nine walks, and three hits. The first two innings started off slow but Rose Owens started things off with a hard line drive to right field, advancing to third from a double hit by Sydnee Blevins. Owens and Blevins both scored off an RBI double hit by English.

Coming into the game in the bottom of the fourth Rikki Cowin hit a triple to start the inning, scoring off a passed ball.

Paisley Schulte hit a hard single to right field and was stopped at second from a fielder’s choice out from a ball hit by Mateya Falck. Owens got on base from an overthrow on first. Blevins scored Falck and Owens with an RBI single to right field.

The fifth inning started with a single from Sydney Watt scoring on an RBI triple from Cowin. Cowin made it home from passed balls on Schulte’s walk. Schulte scored on an RBI single from Falck.

“The girls were hitting much better this game but our defense was not up to par allowing 25 runs to our 8 in 5 innings played,” said Taggart.

Their next game will be May 7 vs. Timberlake in the 3A District 1 Championship round. Visit bfbadgers.com for updated scheduling information.
