Making tracks: Community Fun Run is May 11
Since when is a run, fun? When it’s the Boundary Community Hospital Community Fun Run. On Saturday, May 11, lace up those running shoes and come out with neighbors, friends and family to get some exercise on the north side of Bonners Ferry.
There are three distances that you can run or walk. The 3K is 1.86 miles; the 5K, which is 3.1 miles; or the 10K, which is 6.2 miles. All of the routes start and end on Kaniksu Street next to the emergency entrance at Boundary Community Hospital. The Fun Run steps off at 8 a.m. sharp.
Pre-registration begins on May 1. This year, P1FCU is sponsoring the Community Fun Run so pickup your entry forms at the P1FCU Bonners Ferry office or from Hospital Outpatient Services. The first 70 people to turn in their signed registration forms will receive a free collector T-shirt.
Fun Run Packets for pre-registered runners can be picked up from the Community Relations office from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, and Wednesday, May 8, or 8:30 a.m. to noon on Thursday, May 9. Otherwise bring your completed registration form with you the morning of the race. Anyone who participates in the race, whether they run or walk, must register and sign a liability release form. A parent or guardian must sign the release form for children younger than 13.
Team participation is encouraged, so get a group together and plan to participate in this “fun” run sponsored by P1FCU and the Boundary Community Hospital Emergency Team. There will be water stations located along the courses. Maps are available for download on the Hospital website and will be included in the race packets. Participants will need to check in with Fun Run officials before the start of the run. Check in stations open at 7 a.m. and will be located next to the helipad. Same day registrations are accepted.
Plan to attend the Health Fair after your run or walk is completed. More than 70 vendors and exhibitors will be opening early so everyone can stop and get information. Discover the Health Fair Advantage and find out more about healthcare options in Boundary County at the Annual Boundary Community Hospital Health Fair from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 11.
