BONNERS FERRY — The Bonners Ferry Badgers baseball team was swept by the Timberlake Tigers in IML league play last Tuesday, 16-2 and 9-1. The losses essentially put Timberlake in the driver’s seat for their first IML league title in more than four years.

GAME 1

Timberlake pitcher Kobe Harris pitched a complete game, giving up only three hits, striking out nine while walking three in the 16-2 win.

Badger Ty Batemen blasted a first inning home run over the centerfield fence but the Badgers succumbed to errors and walked batters. Timberlake got 11 hits in the game with Louis Powell going 3 for 5 and Jack McDonald going 2 for 3 with 3 RBI.

GAME 2

Tiger Jack McDonald also pitched a complete game (6 inning due to darkness) striking out 12 batters while not issuing a walk to the Badgers.

After five innings, the game was close with the Badgers trailing only 3-1 when Badger pitching issued 5 walks and 3 hit batters and as the Tigers put 6 runs on the board to take the commanding lead of 9-1. The game was eventually called official due to darkness after the sixth inning.

Badger Seth Bateman went 2 for 3 with a double while Ty Bateman and Wilson Newell each had hits for Bonners Ferry. Timberlake’s Gage Benefield had two hits.
