National Police Week observance planned
BONNERS FERRY — Boundary County residents are invited to join in the national remembrance of the sacrifices made by law enforcement personnel across the country by attending local ceremonies on Thursday, May 16, at 6:30 p.m., held at the Armory Building on Hwy 95.
This ceremony specifically commemorates those officers who lost their lives in the line of duty during the past year. More than 200 names will be added to the national wall of honor; their names will be read out here, a candle lighting ceremony held (as is done at the national service), and several other law enforcement traditions observed to mark the occasion.
The keynote speaker is retired Ponderay Police Department Chief Mike Hutter. The Boundary County Fire Service Honor Guard will present the colors.
This is a solemn and heart-stirring occasion which is a great encouragement to our local law enforcement personnel, and the public is urged to attend to show their support for the sacrificial and professional service our local agencies provide.
