David Laurence Hood

David Laurence Hood passed on May 6, 2019, in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. He approached life with thoughtful, quiet strength. He was a devoted, loving husband, father, and brother.

Dave is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sharon L. Hood. They enjoyed their family and adventuring throughout their lives. He enjoyed cars, boating, art, science, technology, business, working on/fixing virtually anything and RV travel.

During college at the University of Idaho, Dave met Sharon; the start of their 56-year adventure. Dave and his twin brother Dan were born in Spokane, Wash., on Dec. 6, 1938, to Dayton and Marguerite-“Maggie” Hood. Shortly after the twins’ birth, Dayton and Maggie moved to Moscow. His sister Bonnie Wullenwaber is 14 years younger than Dave and Dan, followed three years later by Tom Hood. All were Moscow Bears.

He served four years in the U.S. Air Force. He worked at Vandenberg Air Force Base and later at Lookout Mountain Air Force Base. Dave and Sharon lived in California until 1971. They returned to Moscow to raise their sons Jeff, 51, and Mike, 50. Mike and his wife Bridie, parent Dave’s three grandchildren Keegan, 20, Griffin, 18, and Addie, 15.

In lieu of flowers or memorial, Dave Hood can be remembered with a donation to the Fry Foundation in support of the Bonners Ferry Hospital.
