COEUR d’ALENE — Bonners Ferry Jiu-Jitsu was back at it again, Saturday, May 18, as the team traveled down to North Idaho College to participate in the AKA Open Jiu-Jitsu competition.

Competitors ranging in age from five to 50 years old were out there representing Bonners Ferry. In total, 20 medals came home to Bonners Ferry: eight gold, six silver, and six bronze.

“The competition scene continues to grow in the region and we are getting more and more opportunities to compete locally,” said Coach Sam Brown. “This is great for the development of our program. This past weekend I was able to coach 5-year-old kids, a 50-year-old woman, and all ages in between.

“It’s pretty awesome to get out there and see everyone put their skills on the line. Jiu-Jitsu is hard and requires a lot of dedication so seeing the smiles on their faces after getting a win is quite a reward,” Brown added.

“As usual, the team had great support cheering everyone on down there. I would like to thank General Feed & Grain for sponsoring some of our students, it is very much appreciated! Stay tuned as the team will be back at it on June 22 in Spokane.”
