Joshua David Karty

Joshua David Karty, 31, was called home to be with our Heavenly Father on May 22, 2019, after a yearlong battle with Leukemia. He was surrounded by his family and friends.

Joshua was born May 9, 1988, in San Diego, Calif., to James and Monika Karty (Steinborn). He attended Heartland Christian High School and then later, Horizon School of Evangelism. Joshua’s calling was to preach the word of God, and so he made his pilgrimage to Bonners Ferry, Idaho, to serve as a youth leader in what is now Mountain Springs Church. His passion for Christ and for teaching the word of God is embodied in the countless youth he ministered to. Joshua loved the Lord, and he would share that love with you any chance given. His love for and devotion to Christ could be seen and felt by everyone. His charisma, charm, wit and his goofy personality made everyone love being around him. It is at the Mountain Springs Church where he met the other love of his life, his soul mate, Lynnea Van Dyken. They were happily married on Oct. 12, 2013.

Joshua was also quite the entrepreneur, having co-founded many businesses, including Bulletproof Trucking and Logistics and then his most recent endeavor, The Factory, a coffee and waffle restaurant establishment based in North Carolina.

Joshua is survived by his wife, Lynnea and their three children: Emery (4), Roman (2) and Kennedy (6 months); his father, James; mother Monika and brother Derek.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2019, at Mountain Springs Church, 6789 Main St., Bonners Ferry. Services will be administered by his dear friend and Pastor Matt Jolley.

He is where his soul longed to be — Home with our Savior. Romans 8: 38-39
