Two Tones Cafe celebrates first anniversary
BONNERS FERRY — Two Tones Cafe recently celebrated their one-year anniversary. From getting the restaurant started last year, to renovating and opening the patio area this year, the Two Tones team has been hard at work.
“We had a great start in the summer and kept the momentum going well into November and December,” said the owner of Two Tones, Tony Fleck.
One of the biggest challenges they faced was the first winter. After the hustle and bustle of tourist season, many businesses may notice a winter lull.
“We were blessed with a following of locals, short through long-term residents,” Fleck said. “Our tour around the world lasted nearly three months and supported our ability to generate sales in even the slower months.”
The tour around the world was an event the team put on, which brought in chefs to make their dish from the area that they chose.
A few changes the team is looking to make over the next year is to work on an online ordering system which would make it easier for businesses and students to pick up food in a hurry.
They also have an idea of implementing a weekly calendar with specials that would be available for their specific day.
“I will probably put together some focus group so that we can determine what we can do better to meet the needs of our local community,” said Fleck, who has donated back to the community over the past year in various forms.
“We believe in giving back to the community that has so freely given to so many,” Fleck said. “We’ve come to find out that you never know when you’re going to see any given person next, so we came up with our own little slogan — ‘If we don’t see you, then we’ll see you on down the road at Two Tones!’”
As the warm season continues to bring people through Bonners Ferry, Two Tones has seen a significant increase in sales.
“The past year has been amazing,” Fleck said. “Probably the greatest gift is reconnecting with people I went to school with and meeting those who knew my mother, grandparents, aunts and uncles. I realized even more yesterday, when I went up to the cemetery with my mother, how much it is my hometown that I came home to. Love people, love food, love life.”
