FFA members prepare for 71st annual Harvest Auction

| November 14, 2019 12:00 AM

For 71 years, the community of Boundary County has continued a tradition of supporting agriculture education in the community. Once again, the community has come together and donated items to help the next generation of agriculturalists and leaders. All are welcome to attend this fun-filled event on Friday, Nov. 15, in the Bonners Ferry High School Gymnasium.

Dinner consisting of smoked pork, homemade macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, baked beans and sweet dessert will be served at 5:30 p.m. The auction will start at 6:30.

In addition to auction items, there will be homemade soy candles and festive fall centerpieces made by FFA members available for purchase. They will also be taking orders for fresh Christmas centerpieces and wreaths.

Items up for bid include, but are not limited to, firewood, livestock feed, gift baskets, pellets and energy logs, tires, a new rototiller and many, many more items donated by local businesses. Bidders will also have the chance to purchase a Golden Emblem for $30 anytime between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. or until tickets run out (only 50 sold). The auctioneer will draw one lucky Golden Emblem before the auction starts and the winner will get to choose any Auction item!

Funds raised from the proceeds of the auction provide scholarships for FFA members to attend state and national conferences, provide busing to district and state competitions, help fund community service projects and chapter activities, and provide supplies for some of the agriculture education classes.

The Bonners Ferry FFA Chapter helps students develop their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
