Michael Glenn Summerfield

Michael Glenn Summerfield passed away on Nov. 7, 2019 at the Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Wash. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019, in the Springs of Living Water Free Methodist Church in Bonners Ferry, Idaho.

Mike was born on Nov. 7, 1953, to Glenn and Beatrice Summerfield in Elkins, West Virginia. He was the youngest of four children, following brothers Richard, Branson, and sister Sharon. Mike lived in Elkins until age of nine ,when the family moved to Indiana. The family stayed there until moving to Michigan,

After high school Mike joined the Army. He served proudly for six years, spending time in Kentucky, Louisiana, and Germany. While stationed in Germany, Mike met and married Diana Hoover, who was stationed there with the Navy. Mike and Diana visited several countries, enjoying their time overseas. Their first child, Glenn, was born while they were stationed in Germany. They were transferred to Lawton, Okla., where their daughter, Julia was born.

Mike left the military in 1978 and moved to Moyie Springs, Idaho. Their third child, Matthew, was born and they bought their house in Moyie Springs where they have lived ever since. Mike started working for LP in 1978, working there through the sale to Riley Creek and merger with IFG until retiring after 30 years. Mike enjoyed riding his Harley, snowmobiling, 4-wheeling, fishing, and woodworking. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, loving every minute with his family. Mike and Diana enjoyed 45 years of marriage and had three children, 13 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Mike died on his birthday, Nov. 7, 2019 at Sacred Heart in Spokane, Wash.

He is survived by loving wife, Diana, children Glenn (Lettie) Summerfield, Julie (Daniel) Fairchild, and Matthew (Mindy) Summerfield; grandchildren, Sierra, Isabella, Dalton, Joshua, Jordan, Kaitlyn, Jacob, Ethan and baby girl (due February), Layne, Shallyn and Cassie (Erik); great-grandchildren, Malikaii, Nolan, Dylan, Kylee, Makenna, Fischer, Quinn and Calvin.
