100 Years Ago

J.E. Ryan, of Sandpoint, Deputy Supervisor of the Pend Oreille National Forest Reserve, came to town to discuss roads in the area. The County Commissioners plan to spend a large sum of money on the Meadow Creek- Eastport Road. Mr. Ryan stated that his department was very favorable to the construction of a road to Porthill as well.

The Senior Dancing Club was re-organized at a meeting of former members. The club will have their first dance at the K.P. Hall on Friday.

H.C. Ferbrache returned from an apple selling trip to Cutbank and Havre, Montana. Mr. Ferbrache states that he received top dollar and that all his customers said that the fruit from this district was better flavored than Spokane or other districts west of here.

Legion members were in the schools to honor veterans on a day dedicated to world peace – Veterans Day. The Legionaries were presented with a memorial wreath from the BFHS students for placement at Grandview Cemetery.

It was announced this week that Mr. and Mrs. Harry Rohr have opened a physical therapy office in Bonners Ferry to be known as the “Scientific Massage Studio”. They will use a combination of light, hydro, and zone massage therapy to treat patients.

The appointment of Valdie Burkholder to the position of Boundary County Chairman for the Idaho Heart Association was announced today.

Local veterans were given their first chance last Friday to see a gigantic American flag that will be raised near downtown Bonners Ferry to honor all past and future United States soldiers.

Bonners Ferry High School received two grants that will help bring the new library collection into the 21st century. Librarian Lori Reynolds said one of the grants provided a security system and the other one will buy $5000 worth of non-fiction books.
