Asparagus and fish in cheese sauce

My daughter called a few days ago and asked me to send her the recipe for an asparagus dish I used to make, one her sister just hates. I thought I would share it with you since I also love it.

It is an easy one to make and only takes about 45 minutes to prepare.

Ingredients:

1 lb. fish steaks or fillets, cut in serving pieces (halibut, cod, or other white fish)

1 Tbsp butter

1 10 oz. package frozen cut asparagus

1 11 oz. can condensed Cheddar cheese soup

¼ cup milk

1 cup soft bread crumbs

2 Tbsp butter, melted

Place fish in greased 10 x 6 x 1½ glass baking dish; dot with butter. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes. Meanwhile cook the asparagus according to the package directions; drain.

Place asparagus over the fish. Combine the soup and milk, mix well and pour over the fish and asparagus. Combine the crumbs with the melted butter; sprinkle on top. Return to oven till lightly browned, 10 minutes. Serves 4.
