MOSCOW — Bonners Ferry High School swimmer Julia Cummings competed last Saturday, Oct. 12, in a swim meet in Moscow.

Cummings placed second out of 22 finishers in the girls 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.12, and first out of 15 finishers in the girls 100-yard backstroke (1:02.59).

“Note that Julia Cummings (BFHS) was the fastest 4A and below swimmer in both her events. Only three 4A and below females won an event, and Julia was one of them.,” said coach Greg Jackson. “She also posted a season best in her 100 back.”

Jackson said that they are looking forward to their next meet in Idaho Falls.

“It will be fun to see how we match up with some of the other top 4A teams from the state. Idaho Falls High School is the reigning women’s state champions,” said Jackson.

The swimmers will continue to train through next week in preparation for district and state meets.

“As our season winds down, we will try to keep the intensity up while allowing some time for a few fine tuning aspects that can help us make those extra microseconds that could mean the difference between a state berth or not,” said Jackson.

The next swim meet is Oct. 30, at 11 a.m. at the Kroc Center in Coeur d’Alene.
