CALDWELL — After compiling a long winning streak to reach the 3A state soccer tournament, the Bonners Ferry boys ran into some tough luck and tough opponents in southern Idaho.

In the opening match at state, the Badger boys lost to Weiser High School, 2-1, on Thursday, Oct. 24.

Weiser was up 1-0 going into halftime, but the Badgers tied it up with a goal by Carson Spencer, assisted by Dalin Foster. The score remained 1-1 after 80 minutes of regulation time, sending the match into overtime.

“Weiser scored on a great shot from 25 yards away to win it about five minutes into overtime,” said Badgers coach Brycen Lunger.

They moved on to the consolation bracket on Friday, Oct. 25, playing against Bliss High School. At halftime the score was 2-0, with Bliss in the lead.

“Dalin Foster scored with about 15 minutes left to make it 2-1, but the Bliss keeper made a handful of saves in the last minute to hold on to the victory,” said Lunger. “The guys played well, we just didn’t get any of the outcomes we were looking for.”

Bonners Ferry concludes its season with a 16-4-1 record after winning the 3A Intermountain League district title.
