BONNERS FERRY — The lady Badgers took the win against visiting Priest River on Tuesday, Sept. 3, with a final score of 2-1.

“The girls played extremely hard in a very physical game with multiple injuries, but didn’t give up,” said Badger’s coach Emily Winebark.

The scores were made by Makayla Mierke, and Morgan Swanson on a penalty kick.

“Our goalie, Emily Sanchez had an amazing save on a penalty kick, where she blocked the first shot, and then quickly after, made another amazing save on a follow-up shot,” said Winebark.

“Lily Blackmore had an amazing game at sweeper, stopping countless offensive break-aways,” Winebark said.

Blackmore was injured during the game, pausing game play while she was looked after. She eventually got to her feet, with cheers from the supportive fans, but was out of the game for some time. She returned later in the game, showing her Badger spirit.

The lady Badgers travel next Saturday, Sept. 14, to face off with St. Maries High School at 10 a.m.
