Spokane man charged with two counts of rape

BONNERS FERRY — A 21-year old Spokane man was charged with two counts of rape after a DUI arrest on Friday, Aug. 30, by the Bonners Ferry Police Department.

According to a press release from the Boundary County Sheriff’s Office, while the DUI investigation on Mordecai Lester Cochrane was occurring, a father of one of the two alleged rape victims recognized the suspect vehicle, and told the officers that Cochrane had raped his daughter.

Following the allegation, further investigation by Boundary County Sheriff’s Deputies and Detectives, along with the assistance of the Bonners Ferry Police Department, led to Cochrane being charged with two separate felony rape charges. Cochrane is also being charged with misdemeanors for dispensing alcohol to a minor and for driving under the influence.

According to the press release, both females were treated and released from Boundary Community Hospital.

Cochrane is currently being held on a $210,000 bond and his preliminary hearing is set for Friday, Sept. 13, at 1:30 p.m.
