| September 26, 2019 1:00 AM

The Boundary Community Hospital Board of Trustees are pleased to announce that Preston Becker will be replacing retiring CEO/Administrator Craig Johnson on Oct. 1, 2019.

Craig Johnson is retiring after 19 years serving as CEO and Administrator for Boundary Community Hospital.

“There have been many challenges over the years, from obtaining our DNV Certification as a Critical Access Hospital to the recent Time Sensitive Emergency Stroke, STEMI and Trauma Center designations,” Johnson said. “The team at Boundary Community Hospital works hard every day to serve our community. I have appreciated the support of the Board of Trustees, the staff, and physicians. It has truly been an honor to work with such a dedicated group of individuals.”

Becker is a native of Idaho and attended the University of Idaho in Moscow where he earned a BS degree in finance followed by an MBA in Health Care from American Intercontinental University. He brings with him a wealth of experience, with 17 years working in Health Care as an executive at various hospitals including Gritman Medical Center in Moscow, Idaho, and Steele Memorial Medical Center in Salmon, Idaho.

The past four years Becker has been working for Barton Health Care System, where he served as president and CEO at Carson Valley Medical Center in Gardnerville, Nev., and as Chief Operating Officer at Barton Health in Lake Tahoe, Calif.

“I am looking forward to serving my community and getting to know all of my new friends and neighbors,” Becker said. “It is so good to be back home in Idaho where I will have the opportunity to support and advocate for the healthcare needs of the people that depend on our services. I also want to thank the community at large for being so welcoming to my family and I during our first few weeks here, we already feel at home!”

Please join the Hospital Board of Trustees in welcoming Preston Becker and his family to our Bonners Ferry Community and the Boundary Community Hospital Team.
