Adrian Bryan went undefeated on his way to winning the BCTA Singles Title against some very tough competition.

The tournament started in July where the players were put into either Group Nadal or Group Federer. Each player played a 10 game pro set match a week for five weeks against the other players in the group. After the five weeks points were added up and players were seeded for a double elimination tournament.

Bryan won all preliminary matches handily and earned the top seed. Mike Kelly went undefeated in his group and earned the second seed. In the tournament players had to lose twice to be out of the tournament. Once a player lost they entered the losers out bracket and had the opportunity to play their way back to the final.

Strong performances were turned in by many of the players. Francis Danielek, after losing to Bryan in an early round, played four rounds in a row to get into the final, losing a close one to Bryan. The tournament was Coed and strong performances were turned in by Debbie Pauls, Cheryl Klein and Carey Cox who made it to the latter stages of the tournament.

The final tournament of the year is the prestigious wooden racquet challenge which will take place on Oct. 17. After that, it’s pickleball time.
