BONNERS FERRY— The Bonners Ferry City Council met again via the Zoom video meeting app on Monday, March 30.

On the agenda for the 6 p.m. meeting were two actions items; 1. Consider election options for the Moyie Hydroelectric Revenue Bond and 2. Consider Setting the Date for the Fiscal Year 2021 Budget Public Hearing.

The council discussed sending absentee ballot applications to every electric customer and all city of Bonners Ferry utility customers in the billings to help get residents the application to vote.

A discussion was in force regarding the voting process and that all voting would be completed by absentee ballot. Residents must request an absentee ballot. Ballots will not be mailed to residents without a request.

At this time, the election will occur on Tuesday, May 19, unless the date is moved due to COVID-19 issues. The deadline for voters to have their absentee ballot applications to the county clerk is May 8, by 5 p.m.

The council discussed the 2021 Budget Public Hearing date set for Aug. 18 at 5 p.m. before the regularly scheduled City Council meeting. A tentative budget must be approved by July 30.

The Bonners Ferry City Council meets at 6 p.m. every first and third Tuesday of the month. The next Bonners Ferry City Council meeting is April 7 via the ZOOM app. The app is free to download from your smartphone play store.
