BONNERS FERRY — The Boundary County School District (BCSD) will remain in soft closure until the end of the school year, with the option to reopen schools pending a set criteria that has not been determined at this time.

On April 6, the Idaho State Board of Education voted to continue the soft closure of schools until the end of each district’s calendar year.

The Boundary County School District plans to continue to provide students with remote learning opportunities during this time.

“Our teachers are working diligently to provide lessons virtually and/or in paper form to ensure your child continues to have meaningful learning opportunities,” stated BCSD Superintendent Jan Bayer in a press release. “We all miss our students, but more importantly, we want our students and community to stay safe and healthy.”

If parents need assistance with the remote learning tasks, they are asked to please contact their child’s teacher and/or the school through email or phone.

The child care centers that were previously offered will be closing at Mount Hall Elementary School, Valley View Elementary School, and Naples Elementary School, however child care is still available at Boundary County Middle School on Monday through Thursdays, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for school district employees, emergency personnel, and healthcare providers.

The food service and transportation department will continue to provide meals to the children in the community with expanded drop-off locations.

The free breakfast and lunch is available for all children, ages one through 18, Monday through Thursday. Buses will be delivering the meals to the locations listed below.

People are asked to please stay in their vehicle. Someone will come to the vehicle and ask how many children are in the car, then will bring the meals to the car. For those walking to the location, they need to practice social distancing and stay at least six feet apart.
