BONNERS FERRY — Law enforcement met with Warren Campbell, pastor of the Lordship Church, located at 6606 Highway 95 in Bonners Ferry to discuss the continued services being held on Sundays despite the Statewide Stay-Home Order.

“Pastor Campbell was extremely cordial and friendly and took a long time to sit and talk with me,” said Bonners Ferry Police Department Assistant Chief Marty Ryan. “We very much appreciate that.”

During the meeting, Campbell explained the precautions that he and his congregation were taking to ensure the health and safety during the services.

“They are going to great lengths to sanitize, to ensure that people coming and going in the church are doing so in a safe manner of spacing,” said Ryan.

The church has also maintained spaces between the people within the church during services, and invited law enforcement to attend the services to witness this in person.

“I was so impressed with the efforts that they are taking,” said Ryan. “I think that it is just one more creative way for people to help the community to have some normalcy, yet do so with respect to the threat posed by the pandemic.”

According to Ryan, the church is cooperating with the City of Bonners Ferry and law enforcement, while still trying to give spiritual support to their congregation.

“We are very sensitive, not just to the physical health of this community, but also the mental and spiritual health of this community,” said Ryan. “Folks like Pastor Campbell feel driven by their own faith. We at law enforcement understand that.”
