City council meets via Zoom, alters employee leave rules

BONNERS FERRY — The Bonners Ferry City Council met Tuesday evening, April 7, by way of Zoom, an app that allows public attendance and council member attendance from afar.

Some council members choose to attend via the Zoom app from their homes or elsewhere. The public is also able to access the meeting remotely while practicing social distancing.

The council began with a consent agenda. A motion was made to approve the consent agenda, which was approved.

The next item up for discussion concerned old business of the amendment of the Employee Leave Policy.

Lisa Ailport, Bonners Ferry City administrator, provided information and recommendations to the council where members discussed changing the policy to adapt to the COVID-19 pandemic in relation to employee time off and with regards to the Family Medical Leave Act.

The addition of a new form for employees to file has been created and included into the policy. A modification to a form, already in use, was made in regards to employees utilizing the Family Medical Leave Act.

The changes were agreed upon by the council, voted on and approved.

The last item discussed was a new business action whereas the council was tasked with considering approval of The Grocery Outlet’s 2020 beverage licensing. This action item was unanimously agreed upon and approved by the council.

The next council meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. April 21. The meetings are on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. Instructions on how to participate in the meeting are located at: bonnersferry.id.gov/agendas-and-minutes
