Joan was born in Baxter Springs, Kan. Her parents were Mr. Basil Price and Mrs. Grace (White) Price. After her mother’s passing in 1933, the Price family, her father along with her brothers, William (Russell) and James (Jack), moved to Wardner, Idaho in 1937. Later in 1939 the family moved to Moyie Springs, Idaho, where they lived on a beautiful small farm and they attended the original Buckhorn Elementary School there. All attended the old Bonners Ferry High School.
In 1946 Joan moved to Berkeley, Calif., to complete her high school education. In 1949 Joan moved to Spokane, Wash., where she was employed by the Newberry’s Department Store. There Joan met and married Mr. Ronald J. Susinger in 1951. Later the family moved to Detroit, Mich. The marriage produced two sons, Bruce and Ronald (Jr.) Susinger. Joan was employed there by the Cadillac Plastics Corporation for 10 years. In 1967 the family moved to Ocala, Fla.
In 1969 Joan married Mr. John (Jack) O’Brien and the family moved back to Spokane, Wash. The marriage lasted 28 years, until Mr. O’Brien’s passing in 1997.
Joan was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She had many friends, she loved music, dancing and get togethers. Joan also loved animals, she donated considerable sums to many of her favorite charities.
Joan brought much joy to all who knew her, for her humor, wit and tales of old times in Idaho, and she will be dearly missed by them. Joan is now at peace in Heaven with her family who passed before her.
Joan will be interred at Grandview Cemetery in Bonners Ferry at a later date this year.
