Erma Lee Peterson, 81 Erma Lee Peterson, 81
Erma Lee Peterson, 81, passed away on Aug. 3, 2020, at Life Care Center in Sandpoint.
She was born Dec. 27, 1938, in Tererro, N.M., to John and Erma Morris. The family moved to Wallace in 1942, where her sister, Ginger, was born. They moved to the end of the Highland Flats road in 1945. Her education started at the Highland Flats school on MacArthur Lake road. She graduated with honors from Bonners Ferry High School in 1956. She was active in 4-H, specializing in sewing, a life-long passion.
Erma Lee married Don Peterson of Sandpoint on Dec. 27, 1956, at her parents’ home near Naples, Idaho. They had two boys, Shane and Scott.
The family moved around northern Idaho whenever Don was transferred by the U.S. Forest Service. Many a summer was spent at a backwoods ranger station miles from the nearest store. Erma always managed to provide a homey setting under these adverse conditions.
The family moved to Bonners Ferry in 1970. She worked at several jobs in town, including accounting for Jim Lyons, and many years working at the IGA/Bargain Giant for Dan Klick and Jim Farber.
Erma Lee enjoyed sewing, reading and making craft projects. She always was helping someone less fortunate with clothes or making ends meet. Giving was something that gave her great pleasure. After she and Don moved back to Highland Flats, she worked at the Naples polling station during elections. She always enjoyed seeing and visiting with old friends who came to vote.
She is survived by sons Shane (Janet) and Scott (Christine), all of Naples. She is also survived by her sister, Ginger Fulop, of Kamloops, British Columbia.
Erma Lee was preceded in death by her husband, Don, and her parents.
Per Erma’s request, no service is planned.
