Boundary County diabetes support group meetings planned

| August 20, 2020 1:00 AM

BONNERS FERRY — If you have been diagnosed with diabetes or pre-diabetes, it’s important to have support from other people with the disease such as the Boundary County Diabetic Education Support Group.

All ages and knowledge levels welcome!

“We currently have a wonderful and knowledgeable group of individuals with diabetes and would love to see some more new faces this year,” said group moderator Shantel Pluid, RD, LD, who is a dietitian at Boundary Community Hospital. “The advantage of networking with other diabetics is that you can learn about health-related issues and how it can affect your care. Many topics are covered including nutrition, exercise, reading labels, dental, ideas and suggestions from the group members.”

Anyone is welcome to join the group including family members and caregivers.

There is a new day and location for the meetings. Meetings will be the third Monday of each month September through May at 1 p.m. in the Fry Healthcare Education Center, 6671 Kaniksu St., Building B in Bonners Ferry (across from the Hospital helipad).

Call 208-267-3141, ext. 4235 for more information.
