Badger girls soccer team shuts out Priest River

PRIEST RIVER — The BFHS girls’ soccer team used a penalty kick and goals near the end of each half to earn a 3-0 victory at Priest River on Tuesday.

Morgan Burt opened the scoring 24 minutes into the first half by converting a penalty kick, and the Badgers took a 2-0 lead into intermission on a goal by Morgan Swanson at the 38 minute mark.

Senior Lily Blackmore closed out the scoring with a goal in the game’s 75th minute.

The Badgers (2-0 overall, 2-0 Intermountain League) outshot the Spartans 21-3 in the game.

Goalkeeper Anna Bliss recorded the shutout for Bonners Ferry, which hosts four-time defending 3A state champion Coeur d’Alene Charter on Saturday. Kickoff is 4 p.m., with the Bonners Ferry and Charter boys teams set to play at 6 p.m.

The BFHS boys game at Priest River on Tuesday was canceled due to a lack of eligible players for Priest River.
