BONNERS FERRY — Families lined up to meet Santa Claus for the Hometown Holidays event at the Georgia Mae Plaza on Saturday, Dec. 5.

The event featured a performance by the Badgers cheerleaders dancing to a Christmas medley of tunes to hype the crowd for Santa’s arrival.

The Bonners Ferry Fire Department escorted Santa and Mrs. Claus in one of their firetrucks.

Lines began forming at 3 p.m. in front of the pavilion at the Georgia Mae Plaza; when Santa arrived, the lines had formed passing the Northern Treasures retail store.

There were well over 100 adults with children, some wearing masks, but not many social distancing.

The tree’s lighting helped to give children and parents something beautiful to look at while they waited in line to meet Santa.

Boundary Consignment’s Nancy Croll was seen working diligently that the event went smoothly for all the families and children waiting to sit on Santa’s lap.

Sponsors for the event included: North Idaho Collision Repair Center, Riverside Auto Center, Intermax Networks, Mountain West Bank, Boundary Abstract Company, Ltd., Grocery Outlet, Beck's Furniture Store, Boundary Community Hospital and Boundary Consignments.

The Bonners Ferry Chamber of Commerce thanked many for their work on pulling off the event.

“An enormous thank you to the Bonners Ferry Community Choir and Star Dust Ranch for their amazing service tonight and the Bonners Ferry High School Cheer Team for all their help! We also thank Bonners Bottom Dollar, The Rusty Moose Tavern and Grill, Coldwell Banker North Woods, Larson's Good Clothes, Yoder's Market, Under The Sun, Bonners Ferry Fire Department and Safeway for all your help and support!”
