BONNERS FERRY — Boundary County School District board voted 4-to-1 to move all schools to Green/Category 1. All students will attend school four days per week beginning Monday, Dec. 7.

According to the news release, “As of today, four staff members are positive for COVID-19, and 19 students are quarantined. Two of the four staff members will be able to return to work on Monday.”

According to the Idaho Division of Public Health, Boundary County has 384 total cases of COVID-19 with 155 active cases. There is a current daily 7-day moving average incidence rate of 64.2, much lower than the incidence rate a month earlier of 84.

There is currently a death toll of four individuals all over 60+ years of age.

In the news release, the School district urged students, staff, and family members to protect our students’ and staff’s health and safety. We are asking all students, with support from our parents/guardians, to follow the preventive measures below:

Wear your mask/face covering when you are around people you do not live with;

Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds;

Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60 percent alcohol, if soap and water are not available;

Stay home when you are sick;

Social distance yourself a minimum of 6 feet;

Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue if you are not masked and make sure to throw the tissue away; and

Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces often.

The news release stated, “Thank you for understanding and supporting our goal to keep students in school while protecting the safety and health of our students, staff, and community members.”
