Gov. Little Names December Health Care Worker Appreciation Month

BOISE, Idaho – Governor Brad Little issued a proclamation naming December Health Care Worker Appreciation Month in Idaho.

“I ask all Idahoans to share their gratitude for health care heroes in Idaho,” he said. “We can show our gratitude by minimizing transmissible moments this holiday season.”

Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Idaho’s health care workers have put the safety and wellbeing of their patients and residents ahead of their own health. Staff are also trying to meet social and emotional needs of patients because many families are still unable to visit their loved ones.

Gov. Little asks that everyone wear a mask, avoid gatherings with people outside your household, practice social distancing, and wash your hands regularly, a sentiment echoed by local health care workers.

"This past year proved to have many challenges,” Boundary Community Hospital Board of Trustees said. “The good news, however, is that the Hospital Staff was up to the challenges and have successfully navigated the many obstacles while still providing excellent care to the community."

Support for frontline workers has been heartwarming. Local residents have brought them everything from coffee and meals to handmade cards, masks and surgery caps.

Those most in need of support are the residents and staff of the Extended Care Facility. Residents have been isolated throughout the pandemic, and the staff works hard every day to keep their spirits up.
