National Record Set

| February 6, 2020 1:00 AM

On Feb. 16, 2019 a rifle match was held at the Kootenai Valley Range. Using .22 caliber rifles, aiming at a target fifty feet away, 18 shooters completed the course shooting in the prone, standing and kneeling positions. To score a perfect 10, the shooter had to take out a dot, about the size of the period at the end of this sentence.

Four of the members of the Kootenai Valley Rifle & Pistol Club would combine their efforts to form a team and set a new national record. Greg Mead, Tom Daniel, Don Jordan and Ken Kessler would best the old senior (shooters must be over 60 yrs old) record by 21 points. Their combined score was 4264 out of a 4800 possible.

The NRA recognized this new record in Jan. 2020 just in time for the team to try to break the record again at a match to be held on Feb. 15, 2020.
