Recent phone call scam

| February 6, 2020 12:00 AM

According to the Boundary County Sheriff’s Office, there have been recent fraud calls to Boundary County residents from someone claiming to be from the Publishers Clearing House. They advise the person that they have won several million dollars, and/or a car or other prizes, and then ask the person to get a gift card or provide some sort of financial information to claim the prize.

“This is a scam, if you receive a call like this please do not give any personal or financial information and we recommend that you hang up as they are very good about making it sound like a legitimate call,” said Boundary County Sheriff Dave Kramer. “You can go online and read more about the frauds that have been occurring using the name of Publishers Clearing House.”
