Matthew Ray Bremer

Matthew Ray Bremer passed away on Dec. 19, 2019, at his home near Moyie Springs, Idaho. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2020, in the Memorial Hall.

Matthew Ray Bremer was born to Dennis and Judy Bremer on June 2, 1971 in Worthington, Minn. He was raised on the family farm in Ocheyedan, Iowa. He graduated from Faith Christian High School in Bigelow, Minn., in 1989. He attended college at Concordia College in Seward, Neb., and North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Bonners Ferry, Idaho, became his home in 1991 when he moved there with his family.

After moving to Bonners Ferry he worked for the Forest Service and worked on the family farm, helping establish Bremer’s Nursery. He continued the family farm legacy when he and his brother Scooter became business partners in 2000. They continued operating Bremer’s Nursery together until his death.

In 2002 he met the love of his life, Michelle DesRosiers. On June 14, 2003, they were united in marriage when he gained a son, Dylan Riddle. Together, Matt and Michelle had two children, Jacob and Lilly. His children were the light of his life.

Matt enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, hiking, farming, and spending time in God’s Word. Matt had many close friends who he also considered family and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. This extended to the people of Nepal; especially the orphanage. He was finally able to visit Nepal in March 2019. While in Nepal he helped install a solar-powered water heater along with a filtration system, gave toys and new shoes to children, and loved on all the children he could. Matt was a devout Christian and would often share his love of Christ with anyone who would listen.

Matt was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Ray Bremer; grandparents Bremer and grandparents Dreesen; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Matt is survived by his wife, Michelle, children Jacob, Lilly and Dylan; his mother and father, Judy and Cecil Walden; his brothers, Scooter and Philip Bremer; sisters Tamie Bremer and Julie Bremer Smith and husband Travis Smith; brother-in-law Mike DesRosiers and wife Liz; brothers-in-law Dave DesRosiers and Chuck DesRosiers; mother and father-in-law Marian and Dan Stallings; father-in-law Dave DesRosiers; grandmother Evelyn Stallings, and numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family requests monetary donations be made to the Nepal Children’s Orphanage in care of Victory Connection, P.O. Box 43971, Tucson, AZ 85733 (make checks payable to Victory Connection but in the memo of check please note Nepal Children’s Orphanage).
