BFHS's Gorton to run for Lewis-Clark State College
BFHS senior Abigail Gorton has signed a scholarship letter of intent to run cross country and track next year for Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho.
The LC Warriors field national-caliber teams. Abby would like to be a part of that. Another significant reason Gorton chose LCSC is because of its fine nursing program.
Gorton is the Idaho 3A state champion in the 1600m and 3200m runs. She holds the BFHS school records for those events, as well as for 5000-meter cross country. She has been a state championship qualifier all four years of her high school career, winning five state medals. Gorton has also been district champion, all-district, and all-region cross country honoree. She was a nominee to the North Idaho Sports Hall of Fame.
“Abby does all the little things and brings tremendous ability with her outstanding work ethic,” said BFHS Cross Country Coach Tyler Warner. “We’re exceedingly proud of her and her accomplishments at BFHS and are excited to see her contribute to LCSC.”
Gorton is a member of the National Honor Society and is a four-year honor roll recipient.
Gorton is the daughter of Steve and Mary Gorton, Bonners Ferry.
