In 1960, the First National Bank had a fee of 50 cents for an “insufficient check charge.” Don’t bounce that check!

The First National Bank, on the corner of Main and Bonner streets, was built in 1916, just in time for the flood. The basement, with the new safe, was completely flooded! In 1923, the Masons built their lodge as the second story of the building.

This receipt was printed in the Herald Print Shop. FNB ordered 5,000 at a cost of $40.60. Why did they need so many? Were there really that many “insufficient checks” written?
