Proclamation disregards community’s beliefs, values

| July 9, 2020 1:00 AM

The Bonners Ferry City Council several months ago stated that “[w]e are an inclusive city that welcomes all people, regardless of race, religion, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity and encourages their participation in city government and city programs.”

Progressives will applaud this proclamation as an overdue measure aligned with their notions of equality and fundamental fairness. But stripped of the gilded rhetoric, it underscores a spirit of rebellion and lawlessness that ignores science, defies common decency, and assaults centuries of traditions and values by usurping the prerogatives of God at the genetic level. God does not make mistakes; suggesting otherwise by systematically advancing gender confusion to innocent boys and girls is child abuse.

Left uncontested, this proclamation will permeate, erode and ultimately destroy the social and moral fabric of this community; no longer will Bonners Ferry have standing before God to invoke His hand of protection, much less His blessings, if it “encourages the participation” of drag queens in its libraries and schools to sow into the souls of our youth insidious ideological seeds predicated, not upon the immutability of DNA, but upon sexual behavior.

At the very least, this proclamation disregards the beliefs and values of the vast majority of the citizens of this community. Accordingly we, the people of Bonners Ferry, should voice our objections at future City Council meetings on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. until it is rescinded.
