Wilmer Charles (Bill) Stemmene
Wilmer Charles (Bill) Stemmene lost his fight with cancer on July 20, 2020, at Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
He was born to Edgar and Jerre (Snodgrass) Stemmene on April 19, 1957, in Kellogg, Idaho. He attended Bonners Ferry High School in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, and North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene.
His first job was a stock boy at M&M grocery store, but decided to make logging his career. He enjoyed road trips, never failing to critique any road construction that might be going on. He loved music of all kinds — his favorite was “Seminole Wind” by John Anderson — and if you couldn’t remember a song, hum a bar or two and he could tell you the name of the song and who recorded it. He enjoyed watching football and enjoyed playing softball, golf, and shooting hoops.
After his retirement he became a pretty good cook, made the best chicken and noodles and always made enough to share. Bill did not have children of his own but he adored his immediate and extended family of nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Larry and Mike, and sister Tamera. He is survived by sister, Carol (Ron) Grove; nieces, Linda Grove and Denise (Fred) Maas; great-nieces, Brenna Rae Maas and Miranda Pierce; great-nephews, Zachary Maas and David Willems; and great-great-nephews, Brayden and Ethan Pierce, Baylor Maas, and Gabriel Willems.
Bill will be missed by all his family and friends. A celebration of life will be held late spring or early summer 2021.
