UI offering theater arts scholarships; application deadline is June 13

The University of Idaho Department of Theatre Arts is calling high school seniors with an interest in theater to create a short video for a chance to win one of two $1,000 scholarships for fall 2020.

Students with an interest in acting, design, stage management, directing and writing are encouraged to apply by submitting a 2-to 3-minute video showcasing their talent and passion for theater.

“We’re not just looking for the best and brightest young theater artists in our region; we’re also looking for those artists who know how to showcase their talent,” said Robert Caisley, chair of U of I Theatre Arts. “After all, this is a highly competitive business, and the ability to promote and distinguish yourself from the competition is a valuable skill we help all our students develop.

“This scholarship opportunity is specifically designed to seek out those entrepreneurial artists looking to the arts.”

Students should send a link of their video to theater@uidaho.edu by 5 p.m., Saturday, June 13. Questions can be sent to the same address. Information about the scholarship and U of I Theatre Arts is at www.uidaho.edu/class/theater.
