Emmitt D. Driver, known to many as “Bo Driver,” died at the age of 70 at Boundary Community Hospital in Bonners Ferry, Idaho on Memorial Day, May 25, 2020, 30 years to the date that he made Bonners Ferry his permanent home.
Bo was born July 2, 1949, in Branford, Fla., where he resided until he joined the Navy as a Seabee in December of 1968. In 1969 he earned his GED while serving. He went in as an E02 Equipment Operator Second Class and on May 1st, 1970 he was promoted to a E05 Petty Officer Second Class. He served in the Vietnam War and received a Vietnam Service Medal with an FMF Combat Insignia, Bronze Star for Heroic & Meritorious Service in a combat zone and a Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with device.
Bo was predeceased in death by his father Dalton Driver, mother Minnie Lela Barden Driver, brother, Cecil Driver, and great-grandson Thomas W. Baham.
Bo is survived by his three sons, Donald “Donnie” (Tammy, Cameron, Amanda, April & Amy) Driver, James “Jimmy” (Leah, Dustin) Driver and Roy “Alex” (Jennifer, Wednesday) Driver. Six great-grandchildren, Cody Baham, Lexis Carter, Austin Carter, Zackary Carter, Gavin Fisher and Brayden Fisher. Three sisters, Jeanette (Bobby) Driver Carter, Yvonne Driver Castleberry, and Karen Driver Williams. He has many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
Bo traveled the country with three sons in tow working with heavy machinery, they had lived in at least 45 states before making Idaho their permanent home. He was a family man, a man who loved his three sons unconditionally, always there with advice and wisdom. He always talked about how he had lived a good, full life, and that he got to meet all his boys’ wives and children, and grandchildren.
A private celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
