Parade honors BFHS seniors
BONNERS FERRY — On Friday, June 5, vehicles from varied law enforcement agencies, fire departments, the Boundary County Search and Dive Rescue, personal owned vehicles, classic cars and hot rods lined up for a parade to honor the Bonners Ferry High School graduating class of 2020.
A handful of graduates were waiting on the corner of Chinook and Blaine Streets, in front of graduate and homecoming queen Kae Hilliard-Dodge’s house, all wearing their customary cap and gown to receive the parade.
Issues surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic crisis have caused students and staff at Bonners Ferry High School (BFHS) to be very creative in how they have had to approach academic needs as well as the cumulative end of a students K12 educational journey; the graduation.
The community has also enlisted much creativity in honoring the graduates with Friday’s parade and camaraderie.
The gratitude and appreciation from the parents and graduates was evident from the smiles on everyone’s faces as the cars drove by with friendly waves and shouts of “congratulations,” and “way to go!”
