Who’ll give me a dollar?
From the Archives
John and Jeff Sater hold a lively auction! John has been auctioning in Boundary County since 1973, when he took over the weekly miscellaneous sale from Dick Nelson. He ran the sale out of the same building that Dick Healea used for his livestock auction on the South Hill. Jeff joined his dad in the business after graduating from high school.
Dick Healea sold his livestock auction in 1988, and the Saters needed a new place to hold their weekly auction. John rented Memorial Hall at the fairgrounds and later the North Bench Grange Hall at Three Mile. In November of 1988, he bought the building three miles east of Three Mile Junction across from the Gun Club. John and Jeff continue to hold a weekly auction every Thursday morning.
This photo of John and Jeff Sater was taken during the 1987 Boundary County Fair. A huge crowd came to the auction and then enjoyed the fair.
