| March 12, 2020 11:06 PM

BONNERS FERRY — Boundary County police are saying someone has died as a result of an unspecified incident on the city’s South Hill.

“We had an incident tonight,” Bonners Ferry Assistant Police Chief Marty Ryan told the Bonners Ferry Herald. “Someone is deceased. The victim is not from Bonners Ferry and until family notification can be made, the name will not be released.”

Ryan said the cause of the death is under current investigation.

“This will probably be a lengthy investigation,” Ryan said. “ISP is already assisting us as we go forward. We appreciate the community’s cooperation. We see no immediate threat to the community. We just ask that people stay out of the area for now and let us do our job.”

The Boundary County Sheriff’s Office issued a Nixle advisory alert warning residents of heavy law enforcement presence in the area of Highway 95 and Cody Street and Highway 95 and Van Buren about 8:15 p.m.

Bonners Ferry residents were advised to avoid the area until further notice.

About an hour later, a second Nixle alert was issued telling residents in the area to keep doors locked and report suspicious vehicles and activity.

In the alert, BCSO advised there was extreme danger with extraordinary threat to life or property. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.

On scene are Boundary County Sheriff’s Office, Bonners Ferry Police and the Boundary County Chaplain Corps.
