Evelyn Marie Albano
Evelyn Marie Albano, age 90, peacefully passed away in her sleep, at Hearthstone Village in Kootenai, Idaho, on Thursday March 5. Evelyn was born on Dec. 11, 1929, to Art and Ernestine Anschutz in Union County, New Mexico. Her family moved to Tulia, Texas, until she was four years old, and then moved back to the Rocky Mountains in New Mexico. She had fun with her family going to neighborhood dances that lasted until dawn. They didn’t have a lot, but they enjoyed life.
About 1939, they moved back to Texas, until 1943, when they came to Sandpoint, Idaho. They had never seen it, but liked what they read. Her Dad and Uncle both found property in Paradise Valley, in Bonners Ferry. After that they settled in Naples. Evelyn was happy to get a baby sister, when she was 17, named Sandra. As Sandra grew up, she adored Evelyn. After graduating from high school, Evelyn attended Kenman Business School in Spokane, Wash.
In 1950 Evelyn married Wilfred Albano. In 1951 they had a daughter named Artis, then in 1954 a son named Kelly. Artis and her husband Rick gave them a grandson, Travis, and a granddaughter, Tracy. Kelly and his wife Renee gave them two granddaughters named Melissa and Mallory (who she referred to as her little M&Ms).
Evelyn worked as a waitress in Bonners Ferry, while her children were growing up. She worked several years at Dehart’s drug store in Bonners Ferry, and spent many years going to work with her husband in his logging truck.
She loved her family and friends, and would many times whip up big weekend meals for them. She also loved horses, dancing, singing, sewing, bowling, and traveling to the Oregon coast, to visit family.
Evelyn requested no funeral, so her wishes will be honored.
Evelyn is survived by her sister Sandra and her children Tony and Shannon, daughter Artis, son Kelly and wife Renee, grandchildren Travis, Tracy, Melissa, and Mallory, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
