Fundraiser to help fund Vogl's battle with cancer

| March 12, 2020 1:00 AM

Mike Vogl has been diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer. He is ready to battle for his life. He has undergone the Gamma knife surgery for tumors in his brain. Cancer cells were recently found in the pancreas, also. This is the time for family and friends to join in this fight. Mike will never ask for help so let’s all step up to help in any way we can.

Friends and family are hosting a fundraiser/auction/event to help Mike, in hopes of raising funds for medical bills and medications. Anything at all is helpful … a service, a product, baked goods, firewood, gift basket, gift certificates, blankets, jewelry, soaps, household goods, to be auctioned off for fundraising. There will be both silent and live auctions as well as delicious food for all participants. Dennis Dinning will be the honorable Emcee and Auctioneer. Our community is stepping up as it always does, and the response is overwhelming. Some examples of items for auction are a load of gravel, two rounds of golf with cart, Smith & Wesson firearm, military wall hanging valued at $450, RV/Marine battery, lots of gift baskets and baked goods, guided fishing trip for two, Lifeflight Membership, paintings, photography, one night in a suite with food and spa voucher, gift certificates for local restaurants, photography session, elk burger, jams and jellies, to name just a few. The ever popular dessert and baked goods auction will feature delicious delights from many people, including homemade bread from our own Bonners Ferry Chief of Police!

If you would like to attend the fundraiser, it will be held on Saturday, March 28, at the Kootenai River Inn, from 5-8:30 p.m. (or later).

If you would like to donate a gift basket, gift certificate, product or service, folks will be on hand from noon to 5 p.m. on the day of the event to accept donations for both silent and live auction. If you need to drop off items prior to the day of the event, please call 208-304-0397, to arrange.

Also, there is an account set up at Columbia Bank and anyone can deposit at any branch in the “For the Love of Mike” account. PayPal can also be used to send a donation. Please contact Rhonda Vogl at 208-304-0397 for more information.

Thank you for helping Mike in his time of need. His positive attitude and outlook on life will carry him far… but not as far as the love and support from all of you. Come on out on this springtime Saturday night, enjoy a bite to eat, place some bids, meet up with old friends, and support Mike.
