Investigations continue into last night’s shooting
BONNERS FERRY — A shooting occurred last night, March 12, around 7:30 p.m., in Bonners Ferry and the victim was discovered deceased on the scene by law enforcement.
The incident took place in the area of Highway 95 and Denver Street. The Bonners Ferry Police Department responded with the assistance of the Boundary County Sheriff’s Office. Boundary County Chaplain Corp were called in and responded with Angel 1.
Law enforcement from both agencies had multiple patrol vehicles searching the surrounding area and the Boundary County Sheriff’s Office issued a Nixle advisory alert warning residents of the heavy law enforcement presence. A second Nixle alert was issued telling residents in the area to keep doors locked and report suspicious vehicles and activity.
According to a press release from the Bonners Ferry Police Department, the identification of the victim will not be released until proper notifications to family are made. The press release also stated that the victim was not a resident of Boundary County.
The investigation is ongoing into this matter and a suspect has not yet been named.
According to the press release, Bonners Ferry Police Department Assistant Chief Marty Ryan commented, “that there are several leads and he feels very positive about identification of this suspect being made soon.”
The press release states, that according to Ryan, the area has many private surveillance systems that law enforcement will review, and positive leads are already developing.
Idaho State Police, Bonners Ferry Police Department, and Boundary County Sheriff’s office will continue to work together on the investigation.
