Hospital Auxiliary exceeds last year’s donations

BONNERS FERRY— On Monday, March 16, the Boundary Community Hospital Auxiliary met at the Senior Center for a traditional bake sale.
There were many kinds of baked goods for sale located in the cafeteria area of the facility.
The community came together for the cause and the Auxiliary was able to raise over $1,300 this year, which is $200 more than last year’s sale.
Monday’s bake sale included over 100 pies and desserts which is also a jump over that of last year’s selection of 56 pies.
The Auxiliary has been working toward the purchase of a few “special chairs” for the hospital waiting room. Lauren Kuczka, Marketing Director for Boundary Community Hospital, explained the chairs will benefit those hospital patrons waiting in the wait area, as they are taller and larger and will increase comfort level and ease of access.
The Hospital Auxiliary group has been in formation since 1954, and the bake sale has been ongoing since their inception.
Kuczka explained that a majority of community members who arrived at the bake sale, were there to buy some goodies for their neighbors who were having to stay at home.
“Obviously, it is a tradition,” said Kuczka. “People bought items for their neighbors. It was a nice touch of good news for the community.”
